Stephen and I were on our way to Long Island for the Easter weekend. The week before he told me that we would be making a stop at his Grandparents former home, since his Uncle "Chooch" Richard had said how much it had changed since Stephen's childhood. We made the stop and proceeded a few blocks further where we starting driving through Molloy College. I asked why we were driving through the campus and Stephen said that he wanted to "see something" and nothing more.

We pulled up to a long pathway, which ended at an outdoor chapel/grotto with two statues of women praying. Stephen asked if we could walk up to the site. Since I had been in the car for over 2 hours and needed the use of a ladies room, I asked if we could skip it. He politely said, "Please get out of the car". We walked up to the site and he explained how as a child his Grandfather used to always take him to this spot. He would play around the statues and then they would walk or ride their bikes home. Once they would reach his Grandfathers home, they would tell everyone that they were at their "secret place" and it remained a secret until that day, when I was there.

I thought that it was the sweetest gesture in the whole world, since just like Stephen I also look up to my Grandfather as much as he did to his.

After he explained what the place meant to him, he looked me in eyes and said, "That's why I thought this would be the perfect place", and dropped to one knee. At which point I started crying out of shock and joy. He told me he loved me very much and asked if I would marry him. Of course I said yes through my tears.
