My fiance (Rich) knew how much I loved Chinese food, so he took me out to my absolute favorite Chinese Restaraunt (and secretly made sure we didn''t get fortune cookies there). Then he took me to a park in our town, Hubbard Park, where they are famous for their thousands of Christmas lights decorating the whole park at Christmas time. He took me there to see all the beautiful lights, and took me to my favorite "Christmas house" in the park I''ve loved since I was young, that they decorated as ''Santa''s workshop'' every year. We walked around it hand in hand then took a stroll across the lighted bridge over the park''s waterfall. We stopped in the middle of the bridge to look out at all the lights and beauty of the night. It started to snow lightly, and he nonchalantly asked me,"Oh, do you want a fortune cookie from dinner?" I said, "They didn''t give us any." To which he said, "Yes, they did. Here." He handed me the fortune cookie and I slowly opened it, and the fortune read, "Will you marry me?" And I looked up from it and he was already on his knee holding up the ring. He said, "I''ve been waiting a long time to do this. I love you with all of my heart and I can''t wait to spend the rest of my life with you." I responded with a loud, "YES!" and we embraced and kissed with tears running down our faces. There were others around the park that night of course, but somehow, out on that bridge for that whole moment, it was just the two of us. He took everything he knew I loved that night and put it together for a night of perfection. We laugh about it together now because he said he could hardly eat a bite at dinner that night, and I did wonder a little but about why he ate so quickly but never thought anything of it. He said he was more nervous than he had ever been before and wanted things to go perfectly. And they truly did. It will always and forever be the most romantic night of my life.
